"...for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." Philippians 4:11b

I know I have written about contentment before, but sometimes I just need to erect ebenezers of words to remind myself of truth.

I might be circling around this wilderness

For at least forty years

I might be stepping into the furnace

Not knowing if rescue will appear

I might be staring at the enemy

As my faith they mock and jeer

But in every situation

I will know that You are near.

I might be thrown into a well

Where dank mud chills the bones

I might be sailing through a hurricane

Off course from the winds that have blown

I might be sitting in a prison cell

Forgotten and alone

But in all my circumstances

Your strength will be made known.

I might be peering at the remains

Of the years the locusts have nullified

I might be swimming in an abundance

Of riches You have supplied

I might be walking through the valley

With death right by my side

But whatever my condition

In You I will be satisfied.
