In Winter

This is the companion poem to "Pathway of Rejoicing." Together they both offer unique perspectives on the pathway to rejoicing in the midst of our trials.

Blasting, the blizzard blew in

The harsh winds pierced the skin

And we wandered a while in winter.

The precipitation soaked us through

The white-out completely obscured the view

And we wasted a while in winter.

The endless drifts did surround

The ceaseless trudging pulled us down

And we were wrecked a while in winter.

The chill perforated the heart

Joylessness tore us apart

And we were wayward a while in winter.

Ever so slowly spring came

Transfigured the internal plains

And we witnessed salvation in winter.
