In Women's Bible Study the last two weeks, we have been studying Judges 13-18. We've looked at the lives of Samson, Micah, and the Danites through the lens of control, idols, and pride. They've been powerful lessons. These lessons have been further lived out this week through the winter storm that left us without power and heat. All of this gave birth to this song poem.
I've struggled for so long
O'er what I can't hold
Precariously balance
Maintain control.
I'll lay it down.
I fight in the battles
That I need not win
Contend against enemies without
Not within.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it all down
I'll lay it all down
At the foot of Your throne
Oh I'll, I'll lay it down.
I chase after what
Can never fill
Erect my idols
Pursue my own will.
I'll lay it down.
I play tug of war
Between trust and my pride
I sing of surrender
But fail to abide.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it all down
I'll lay it all down
At the foot of Your throne
Oh I'll, I'll lay it down.
I come battered
I come weary
Tired and worn.
I come burdened
Heavy-laden
Weak and poor.
You say find
You say find
Rest in Me.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it down.
I'll lay it all down
I'll lay it all down
At the foot of Your throne
Oh I'll, I'll lay it down.
